Startup Stories: Dennis Howes

In a recent sit-down with Dennis Howes, Co-Founder of Membership Bespoke and also a member of our YEA Advisory Board.

He shared his entrepreneurial experiences that helped shape the leader he is today. His journey is packed with lessons, motivation, and proof that success isn’t just for grown-ups—it’s for anyone with a vision and the drive to chase it. Get ready to be inspired!

  1. What was your first entrepreneurial experience as a young person, and how did it shape your perspective on leadership?

My first entrepreneurial experience came at school, where I sold tickets to England football matches and arranged coach travel for pupils attending the games. I even provided packed lunches to those who bought tickets—it became quite the operation!  I sometimes filled five coach loads for any one game.  I was 13 years old.

Later, while at university, I got involved in club night promotion, which was equally fast-paced and required a great deal of organisation and people skills.

These early ventures taught me that leadership isn’t just about giving direction—it’s about taking initiative, solving problems, and creating opportunities. They also helped me develop key skills such as communication, planning, and resilience, which I’ve carried with me ever since.

  1. Why do you believe early entrepreneurial education is critical for youth today?

Not everyone is academic, and I genuinely believe our current school system is failing many young people by not recognising or nurturing different kinds of talent. Entrepreneurial education offers an alternative path—one that encourages creativity, confidence, and practical thinking. It equips young people with real-world skills such as financial awareness, teamwork, and adaptability, which are crucial whether they choose to start their own business or follow another route.

By introducing these principles early on, we give young people the tools to shape their own futures and to view challenges as opportunities.

  1. How has being involved with the Young Entrepreneurs Academy reinforced your belief in the power of youth entrepreneurship?

Being involved with the Young Entrepreneurs Academy has been a truly inspiring experience. I believe the programme is groundbreaking in the way it empowers young people to develop ideas, take initiative, and build something meaningful from the ground up. I’m incredibly proud to be associated with it and to support it however I can.

Dennis Howes' path to entrepreneurship started early—with curiosity, determination, and a willingness to take risks. From launching ideas in his youth to leading with purpose today. His journey is a reminder that being an entrepreneur is about more than business—it’s about solving problems, staying motivated, and learning through experience.

If you're a student with an idea or just the drive to create something of your own, the Young Entrepreneurs Academy is the perfect place to start. Learn from real entrepreneurs, build your own business, and take that first step just like Dennis once did. Sign up and see where your ideas can take you.
